HGUC 1/144 Unicorn Gundam [Unicorn Mode] Review - Part 2

This is a continuation from part 1 here.

Phew, this took me a while to photoshoot and I did an experimental photoshoot setting as well. See it in the following review and tell me if you like it or not. I won't be using it frequently as I think it is best suited for very while kits like the Unicorn.

Also, there is a short comic strip at the bottom. Hope you'll like the random story setting!
Note: It is related to the last three pictures from the previous post. XD

Part 1: Comparisons
Compared to an empty mint bottle.

Compared to Destroy Mode. That's some height difference there...

19m+ partners!

Yes, AHEADs are tall grunts.

Part 2: Up, Left, Down, Right!

Part 3: Articulation & Gimmicks
Shoulder articulation.

Arms and legs spread. Legs are limited due to a ball joint. Wished they used the same joints as for the MG for the legs.

Most HGUC necks can go way up including Unicorn's. The waist can turn all the way around as there is basically nothing to hinder it.

Basic articulation at the elbow and knee. Knee articulation is actually hindered due to the armor design.

Shield placements using the small connector. No, the shield isn't supposed to go to the front. XD

Shield placement using the big connector. Snaps onto the arms and blocks the beam sabers on the arms as well.

You can't push the beam sabers all the way out Unicorn Mode unfortunately.

Part 4: Action!
Running action? XD

とべよ~ガンダム~!

It looks menacing now!

Bazooka action (and boxart pose).

Bazooka cartridge taken off and replaced with the cap. Essentially, this means that the bazooka is unusable in battle.

Full Arms Installation Complete
Note: Beam rifle (tonfa) and the left cartridge at the skirt are from the Destroy Mode.

*pew**pew**pew*

Final shot!

Dual beam saber action!

HENSHIN!

Destroy Mode & 4 beam sabers!
Note: This one comes separately. Blue beams from Hi-Nu while pink beams from Unicorn Mode.

4 beam saber madness!

Part 5: Angle Comparison Between Unicorn Mode & Destroy Mode
It is essentially the same Gundam. Which mode is nicest depends on the eye o the beholder. Personally, I like em' both (or else I wouldn't have bought both) and are nice to pose together. ^^
I'll most like give Unicorn Mode all the guns while Destroy Mode gets the beam sabers. XD

Part X: OOC Comic Strip
I won't say this is my best work. I'll let you, the readers, decide whether this crazy comic strip is funny. XP

Very doom.

Part 6: Conclusion!
Pros
  • Highly detailed.
  • Firm overall build.
  • Comes with a PAIR of open hands. <3>
  • Comes with beam sabers.
Cons
  • Have to buy BOTH Unicorn Mode and Destroy Mode to get the full experience with this one. However, this one purely depends on what sort of armaments you want. I prefer the beams to be on the Detroy Mode though.. no, it should've come with its own beams then I can truly do the epic four beam saber poses!
  • Limited articulation.
  • Beam sabers at the backpack can drop out easily.
Overall, the kit is very decent. I feel that it is much better to buy both of the modes in this grade than buying the MG version (either the Ver. Ka or OVA). Buying both of the HGUCs will costs you a total of 3300 Yen while the MG costs 5000 Yen. The overall arms are the same (unless you get those gattlings and want to put them on). Of course, there are more details and mechanics for the MG as it has an inner frame and the transformation gimmick. (IMHO)

Either way, you either get the HGUC or MG depending on your preference. In the end, the Unicorn is a beautiful MS that nicely go into out "to-get list". Now, Bandai, when is the HGUC Sinanju gonna come out? My Unicorns are lonely (DOUBLE TEAM ATTACK!). Maybe I should get the HGUC Kshatriya... but I don't like much really. >.>

Okay, that's all for now. I'll probably build the HG Seravee GNHW/B next but not very soon as I feel the mood to do some EX reviews and quick reviews for some that desires your attention. XD

Arrgh~! THAT "fishing"... Figures...
Luckiy its not Yoko or Haruhi... Or else UM is REAL trouble.

Outcomes:
With Yoko -
UM is filled with sniper bullet holes.

With Haruhi -
UM is INSIDE a hole in an alter world.

@moe: Thanks.

@Mafty: Nah, that's as "brutal" as it gets.

@ZoiD: XD

@chubbs: Yep, fishing really have two meanings!

@Faddy: Thanks. Even though if it is the star of the review, it doesn't mean the MS will get the winning role. XD

@BD: Unicorn's just lucky I don't have them nearby... it could have been worst, much worst. >D

@mangyver: Haha, must be because of the eyes.

@divine: Thanks. Yep, somewhat. XD
