Dengeki Hobby September 2010 White Base MS Hangar Review

Price: RM20+/- for Hong Kong Issue, RM 50++ for Japan Issue
*HGUC RX78-2 not included.*
I initially thought I wouldn't get this but just like with the Gundam Rasiel before, I managed to get two copies as greedy as that sounds. After getting it, an idea came to me. Won't be doing it so soon but it will involve weathering for this very model kit and another which may go into that group build by rockleelotus, if I ever actually do it that is.

On with the short review~
Note: All photos were taken with a Samsung Champ(ion) phone camera @ 1.3MP since my camera is away for servicing. My old camera is a pain to work with since it has a few aging problems (main reason why I bought the new camera). ^^;

Part 1: Box & Book
Nicely kept in an easily opened plastic.

The box was slightly dented but no real damage to the important stuff. Simple instructions on how to put the MS Hangar together at the back.

This is a nice issue to get, lots of nice stuff to see and read if you can. Lots of works on the granddaddy of all Gundams, RX78-2, and shots of the winners and participants of the Hong Kong Dengeki Gunpla-Oh Championship 2010. Luckily, there weren't any black censors on this one since the risky content is almost non-existent in this issue.

Part 2: Box Open!
The reason why the contents are quite safe.

One single runner.

Part 3: Building Process
There's nothing much to show. It is as easy as it seems. I know, we all do, someone who would love to make those pistons shiny...

Part 4: MS Hangar
The MS Hangar is meant for 1/144 kits and anything around the height of 12~13cm.

Good details all around for an extra item from a magazine.

Very simple moving mechanism that works. You may want to glue/cement some certain parts such as the tabs in the middle so that it won't come off accidentally otherwise it works well.

Part 5: Shots with the Granddaddy

You can stuff its main weapons here if you like but it isn't supposed to work like that. ^^;

Part 6: Simple Omake
Been a while since I've done an omake but here's a simple one.

Part 7: Conclusion
Pros
  • It does what t does, store your 1/144 scale Gunpla similarly to the show in the Universal Century.
  • Can be modded for other uses, however depends on your skill and creativity. One example in the magazine is a phone dock/charger, specifically an iPhone dock and charger. ^^
    Thanks to Natheniel Lau for reminding me!
Cons
  • Can be quite expensive depending on which region issue you buy.
  • Limited quantities.
Nothing much to say, can't really recommend either since it is pretty hard to get it and can be pretty pricey if you're just getting the kit. If you like and want this base, then buy it if you can. You can paint and weather it to make it look nicer too. The RX78-2, IMO, looks nice stored on the MS Hangar since it is made for it. XD

Until the next post~

There isn't a need for me to put other Gundams. They will just fit in there as long as they don't have too much going on (big backpack) and not too big in size. ^^;
If I have the time, maybe I will and add it in the review later on. No promises though.

Well, Momotoys is selling the Japanese issue which is definitely more expensive as I stated in the review.

wait the HK issue has it? :S I missed out on it T_T

@Astray: The HK issues ALWAYS have the same items as far as I know. HK Hobby Japan also exist but much harder for me to find though...

I think it will make a nice addition along with those bases from kotobukiya if you ever plan a big diorama!
