HG 1/144 Gundam AGE-1 Titus Review - Part 2

This is a continuation from this post.

One of the most beam-ful Gunpla out there. If you're fan of CQC and beams, you'll definitely love this model kit and its versatility. Read on for the rest of the review!

Section 1: Static Poses

Stats-wise, Titus is supposed to be shorter by 0.4m than Normal. Doesn't seem to be obvious or scale-accurate for the HG though. Then again, the difference is negligible at best.

Titus has a bulky yet fierce design on it. Somewhat"childish" in feel when it was first introduced but later on realized it was not. Decided to pose it with all the beams on. Yes, we get enough beams for a "Full Burst Mode" on a HG model kit costing 1200 Yen! Usually Bandai will cheap out on the beams. Lucky they did not for Gundam AGE - a good thing.

The more I look and play around with AGE-1 and its variants, the more I like them. Maybe because Flit has shown to be an effective close-range combatant from the use of Normal's beam daggers/sabers, Titus beams (everywhere) and Spallow's single Shigure Blade in kicking major arse in the show. As over-done Gundam can be, the action was nicely animated.

Section 2: Articulation & Gimmicks

Shoulders - unhindered by the bulkier shoulder armor.

Neck.

Legs cannot split as far as it can due to bulk of design. Feet have a more limited range of movement as well.

Bulk does not affect these articulation points however. =)

Waist can go all around as well as front to back a decent amount - as evident from the action poses later.

Removable and adjustable arm-guard to insert the Beam Lariat. A bit inaccurate to the anime though as the arm supposedly extends at this point for the beam to come out.

Section 3: Action!

Almost any beam saber part, 1/144 and 1/100 - round and flat, can work with this model kit. Wonderful potential there for more beam spam. It's fun~~~

And ze AHEAD gets it again, to the face - through the shield. Ouch.

Section 5: Conclusion
Pros

Full beam set.
Great color and part separation.
Great articulation, even after design-caused limits.
Great value @ 1200 Yen.

Cons

Pulling out the shoulder armor may cause piece to come off while at it, even if it is quite tight (unless you cement/superglue it that is). ^^;

Overall a fantastic model kit from the Gundam AGE series. I am simply astounded at the quality here as well as value for money. Easy to build as well so it is very beginner-friendly. You barely need to paint extra details, unless you really want to, and panel lining plus utilizing the stickers is good enough for this model kit to look nice.

I highly recommend this, especially if you're fan of the Gundam AGE-1.

Update on Spark Gundam? Plus Double Binder 00 Qan[T]

Because of this and that, I took out the HG 00 Qan[T] as well as the 2nd hand one I got from my friend not too long ago. Decided to continue with the parts placement (obtained from the bootleg HG 00 7 Swords) onto the 2nd hand HG 00 Qan[T] in order to continue my Gundam design - Spark Gundam. Since this will be my "first time" doing anything major, if I do proceed within the near future, I'll try not to "over-attempt" the mods and overall build design. ^^;
Note: It won't exactly look the same as what I've drawn, I believe, as I'm not experienced enough to do until that "image" I have in mind.

Well, see how this goes.

Utilizing the 00's backpack (while held up by blue tack for now) works quite well. =O

Gao Gao (TT Hongli) HG 1/144 00 Seven Sword/G (007S/G) Review (Unfinished)

Time for the next review~ TBH, I was pretty excited when building this due to reasons as you read on the review, although more obvious in the second part later. Even if this is the second time I'm building practically the same kit and fourth time building a 00 Gundam, I don't feel any quirks about that. Now, onto the review.

The price this time is higher than usual but it seems the prices of bootlegs have increased lately so there isn't much I could do about that. Fortunately, it is still relatively affordable, especially for what you'll find inside the box and my impression on it proves positive.

You may read my previous review on the original Bandai version of his model kit here which covers some information in regards to the Gundam itself as well. I won't be repeating it here.

Specifications

I find it amazing that Gao Gao/TT Hongli is getting better with their Engrish, seriously. It makes building easier as the instructions have Engrish words that are understandable by the very least.

Section 1: Box

The way they did the box this time was slightly different than usual yet doesn't go far off from the original. At least the text (not all) stays on this time, although translated into Chinese/Engrish.

Section 2: Box Open!

As usual, they pack everything into one plastic bag. As much as it is cost driven, there is a chance of parts scratching and parts falling off the runners so be wary because of this packaging choice.

Section 3: Manual Scans
Check out the gallery over at my Imgur album HERE. You better read it for some laughs or maybe even be impressed while you do.

Section 4: Runners

Note: Only took closeups of runner A as an example. If you can see it properly, the plastic quality is admirable but could never be at the same level as the original - Bandai.

Color accuracy is top notch this time. I can say that it is at least 99% accurate to the original. you can observe that in the second part alter when I compare the bootleg to the original.
The overall plastic quality is 90%~ I'd say with a matt finish for most parts. The plastic texture is not completely smooth but the rough outcome isn't so noticeable unless you touch and look up close (some parts are smoother than the other as it seems the company can't evenly produce the parts yet). Shouldn't be a problem if you sand down your model kits as the details, as far as I can see myself, are intact.

The polycaps are hard and tight which will be evident in the second part as to its benefits. The stickers are complete fail as Gao Gao missed their target... even if they do stick this time.

Section 5: Building Process

As usual, I painted the clear parts. For the Gao Gao 00 line, I normally paint them red to tell you and me it isn't the original as well as the fact that red looks nicer IMHO. I used the Sangokuden Gundam Marker Metallic Red for this, half shaken.

Since the eye sticker cannot be used, I have to paint the eyes myself. I put down the red paint first before using a permanent marker to do the black portion. You'll have to shake the metallic marker completely if you want the eyes to shine.

Other than the clear parts painting, you'll need various other extra tools such as superglue and/or modelling cement for loose parts, a modelling knife if you don't normally use one to trim some excess edges that you may come across and a diligent will to finish the model kit. It won't be easy and a smooth ride. Bootlegs, as much as they can be praised to be "90%~ of the original", the 10%~ tells you that there are some inconsistent flaws you'll have to bear.

Okay, onwards with the meat of this review. I'll hint that hard and tight polycaps makes building this one harder and requires more force to put some parts together (especially ball joint areas).

Section 5.1: Torso

I sharpened the chest fin to make it slimmer and less obstructive to the head later. Other than that, the body came together as per instructed but the hard polycaps made putting it together, quite tough. The two halves of the torso doesn't completely shut tight though.

Section 4.2: Head

Just a simple paint job for the eyes.

The red looks nice... Do note that I sharpened the V-fins as well.

The head section has a lot of problems. The V-fin and the rear headpiece didn't want to stay in. The mouth piece that connects to the chine and eyes poke through too easily. I didn't want this to be a permanent fix so I used blue-tack to make the parts stay together. This section seems to be the only one with the most problems overall for some odd reason. If you used superglue or cement, I think the head will stay together just fine.
Do note that I'll only detail the model kit partially (minor) due to future plans going for it.

Section 5.3: Arms

The only problem with the arms is that the upper section didn't completely connect to the shoulder gray piece as you can see the small gap there. It doesn't seem to cause any problems though as the overall connection, once you put the arm together that is, is pretty tight and made me quicken my pace to finish it. I had some hope because of how tight the connections are feeling at this point.
I also like to point out that putting the stickers under the orb makes it harder for the orb to stick on as the sticker makes it jut out and kinda want to fall off. Thus, you either trim the stickers, make the orbs smaller (risky) or don't use the stickers at all.
The open palm, unfortunately, didn't want to connect to the white armor piece peacefully so I had to mod the connection a bit so that it'll stick on, otherwise, it connects to the arm no problem.

Section 5.4: Legs

Building the legs are the easiest. The only problem the the thigh armor not wanting to completely "sit in" but it doesn't cause any real problem asides from that.

Section 5.5: Waist

Only problem is the rear waist armor and beam saber hilts can fall off easily if you fumble with em' too much. Other than that... ball joints are hard to connect due to the tightness. ^^;
Do note the articulation points for those who are not familiar with the 00 model kit. Lots of capable movements there!

Section 5.6: GN Drive

Putting together the GN Drive is straightforward but attaching it to the back prove to be challenging due to how tight the polycaps are. Yes, I'm repeating the same problem again and again but that's the truth.

Section 5.7: GN Sword II Blaster

No problems here.

Section 5.8: GN Buster Sword II

No problems here either... if you want weapons, you may want to look for this bootleg kit, I'm impressed. Take note that the buster sword can open up as shown. The two blue pieces at the sides require part swapping though.

Section 5.9: GN Sword II - Long/Short

Tighter than the original so expect some fuss when you change from sword to rifle mode and vice versa. The wire connects quite fine for this model kit but the tip of the short sword is still... flimsy. ^^;

Section 5.10 - GN Katar

Construction is fine but pulling the handle out takes some effort and... fingernails.

Overall, I can say that the building experience is mostly painful because of the hard and tight polycaps. The plastic parts are quite alright except for some deviations such as at the head section foremost. Other than that, it was an okay ride when building. A little bit of challenge makes it all the fun to build unless you're not into the challenge of building that it. Then again, this model kit can be built straight-up without any kind of more experienced skills. (I may repeat this in the second part later...)

Section 6: Preview (Updated with Info)
Note: All preview shots were uploaded on my FB account as I was photo-shooting it (thus no watermark) and were taken with my Samsung Galaxy S II. I'll elaborate more on these in the second part later. But these shots give a great impression on the final build, no? :3

~~Was the bootleg building experience worth it? These preview shots may answer that but I'll give you the answer in the second part. So stay tuned!~~

When it comes to holding the heavy weapons, this model kit doesn't have much problems. Heck, it fares better than the original did. This is mostly due to the tighter joints of the model kit. The only problem here is the peg connection from the buster sword/blaster to the forearm. You may want to reinforce it by using superglue/cement on the two halves of the forearm or increasing the peg breadth with the superglue trick.

Although it is a bootleg, it has no problems posing like the original at all. It may even surprise some of you even.

If you own a HG 00 Raiser model kit, you can use the combined handles as such (plus requiring another HG 007SG) as the sturdier, tighter joints of the bootleg allows these possibilities effortlessly!

Finally, you can go mad by wielding the buster sword with one arm. It probably won't last long but that shouldn't stop you from doing something like this, no? Note that you'll need another HG 007SG if you want to emulate this awesomeness.

Section 7 Alpha: Conclusion
Eh, I just noticed I didn't actually finished this review with a second part like I usually do... which feels weird because I felt like I have already done it (or it could be the delusion due to being distracted by real life issues). o_o;
Since I've already did a few things with the said model kit, I think the only way for me to conclude this is assuming the "preview" shots above paint a good enough picture. ^^;;;

Pros

Stickers stick like normal but mine were printed with a large margin of error however...
Tight, sturdy joints/polycaps.
Mostly matt plastic mold.
Can hold up heavy weapons without much problems while being better at it than the original.

Cons

Pegs for weapons that connects to the forearm are loose.
Sometimes when thing are tighter does not mean it is always better like the katar pegs are stuck to the katars.

Overall a VERY good bootleg although late of me to properly conclude that as the local shop officially ran out of this a while back. =/
Well, at least I updated this review somewhat. Better than leaving it hanging. o_o;

Seriously, I didn't continue this review last time? This calls for some photo-taking action later - to properly update this review. ^^;

HG 1/144 Gundam AGE-1 Titus Review - Part 1

Just in time for Chinese New Year (2012)~ It is pretty much red so it somewhat fits the seasonal bill. Well, a certain Chinese/Dragon-base Gundam from a certain series would be more appropriate though.

Got this one as a Christmas gift last year from a close friend of mine. Really appreciate it since I did want to get myself a Titus thanks to its CQC motive with lots of neatly placed beams.

Story in Brief
Once a new model known as the Baqto appeared before them, Flit find problems fighting their anti-beam coated armor. The AGE System designs/creates the first "Wear" which produces the Gundam Titus - a strong CQC melee-concentrated mobile suit. It is able to bash its opponents away with pure, brute strength.

PS: Gundam Spallow is even more hax from what we can see from the anime so far. A single blade can pwn so many. Its speed is like infinite Trans-Am. No fair Flit.

Section 1:Box

A powerful boxart and the usual layer of information and necessary highlight shots. Bandai uses a white background for their HG releases ever since the HG 00 Movie model kits were released. HGUC excluded.

Section 2: Box Open!

Section 3: Runners

Adequate number of runners that gives you enough detail and parts to have a good looking model kit OOB. The plentiful amount of beams was the nicest part for me since Bandai always tries to skim in that area. But not this time.

The number of duplicate parts from the AGE-1 Normal is minimized greatly as you can see. You can compare it with my review of that here.

Section 4: Building Process
Section 4.1: Torso

Painted the interior of the yellow neck piece gray (scrapped off the excess after the shot) but I used the "A" sticker for the chest this time as I wanted the shine from it. I had half the mind to paint the blue areas red though...

Section 4.2: Head

Unlike before, for the AGE-1 Normal, I panel lined the slits in front around the "A" on the forehead. Can't really put much detailing (easily) on such a small area. ^^; As usual, I trimmed the V-Fins to look for sharp.

Section 4.3: Arms

Amazing details go into the shoulders but the opening gimmick should've been easier than it is to open. The double jointed elbows are not hindered by the larger build either. Unfortunately, Bandai only give us one pair of hands - which is where they can cheapen up. An open pair would be nice for "Imma gonna kick your arse" possibilities.

Section 4.4: Legs

Painted the not-so-visible rear section of the feet to give it a sense of better depth whenever it gets looked upon. Quite impressed the design allows it to retain a full knee bend. Not skimping out on the working mechanisms, the knee guard has linked movement.

Section 4.5: Waist

One of the most flexible waist units amongst HGs. I failed to mention about the tab at the rear when reviewing the AGE-1 Normal before. I think it is meant for the Spallow?

Section 4.6: Beams, Lots of Beams!

The circular beams are in two halves. Dayum, lots of beams! Enough to go "full burst" even~~~ =D

Gao Gao MG 1/100 Deathscythe Hell Custom Review - Part 1

I initially wanted to get an original Bandai one much earlier on but budget was focused more to my gaming needs so this is what resulted from it. I actually almost completely skipped this gem of a Gundam. Truth be told, I would still want the original but I'll leave that to a time when my funds are plentiful again for Gunpla. Nonetheless, this bootleg is actually worth-while to build as Gao Gao (AKA TT Hongli) keeps on stepping their game up.

Note: Will add on some more in a while.

Section 1: Box

Due to obvious copyright issues, details on the box are minimized greatly.

Section 2: Box Open!
As usual, Gao Gao shows us how environmentally friendly they can be by packaging the runners in the least amount of plastic bags possible - at the cost of the runners scratching one another.

Section 3: Manual Scans
To be added. Will show you their fabulous Engrish translation later on.

Section 4: Runners

For an MG costing 4800 (Bandai original), it does indeed have a lot of runners going for it.

Details and plastic quality gets a thumbs up from me. Not Bandai-level but decent enough for a bootleg.
Note: Gao Gao doesn't seem to use ABS plastic for parts that are supposed to use them, well, they aren't labeled as such.

Section 5: Building Process
As with any bootleg, prepare necessary tools like knife, superglue/cement and whatever else you may need. You may need a decent amount of strength while putting parts together.

Reinforcing means using the superglue-trick or something similar to add more friction for two connecting joints. Superglue-trick is done by letting a layer of superglue dry on a peg before connecting it back. Naturally it will add more friction to the connecting joints allowing a more firm joint connection.

However, for this bootleg MG, it was relatively painless to build. No extra cutting was needed as far as my experience with it went. Only some cementing was necessary.

Section 5.1: Torso

Interestingly, building the torso was a breeze. Only the neck area posed some problems but a little bit of additional force was enough to make it work out.
Note: Did not put the pilot in the cockpit - something I usually do.

Section 5.2: Head

The head... has problems. You'll need some superglue/cement for the mouthpiece as they don't stick on well as well as the "sideburns" feel a little loose. Adjusting the face will eat some time as well since the way it is put together feels non-bootleg-friendly. ^^;

Section 5.3: Arms

White "claws" on the shoulder armor are movable. No construction problems here.

Arm-guard. No problems, by itself at least, here.

Due to a recent design decision, the fingers are non-movable and rely on part switching. More weapon friendly but doesn't seem that reliable for this bootleg as it feels loose. Maybe a superglue-trick will help - if you need the additional grip later.

Note: Arm-guard is slightly loose once connected. Not so loose but you may need to use the superglue-trick if it falls off frequently enough. I haven't actually experienced that but I feel it is a possibility.

Section 5.4: Legs

I highly suggest to superglue/cement the toe-section of the feet as it feels like the two parts are going to come off every time the toes are moved.

The white "claws" for the knee are rather hard to put through nicely for this bootleg but it is possible. Took me some time to actually do it though. =_=;

Katoki's sense of proportions are fabulous. Legs felt quite sturdy once everything are put on.

Section 5.5: Waist

You'll need to superglue/cement the gray pieces on else they will pop out when you move the waist armor. I almost did. The rear skirts seem to need reinforcement as well since the joint mechanism has a small connecting headroom.

Section X1: Without Active Cloak

Once you overcome the flaws stated above, the bootleg Deathscythe can stand up pretty well.

Section 5.6: Active Cloak

After building this, I felt like I had a Batarang in hand. Of course, I would be a fool to actually throw it but it is very sharp since the sharp points are thinner on this bootleg - me gusta. The problems on the Active Cloak are quite minor but it doesn't hurt if you decide to superglue/cement the halves for additional integrity though.
I suggest using superglue/cement on the two red "claws" and using the superglue-trick for the peg connecting to the back as it isn't tight enough.

Section 5.7: Beam Scythe

Scythe is quite hollow and light which is good for holding but looks rather crappy to see, unfortunately. You may or may not need superglue/cement on some of the small connecting parts here. Beam goes in nicely though.

Section X2: Preview - "Those Who Have Seen Me..."

Note: I reinforced the torso ball joint connecting to the waist in order for the bootleg Deathscythe Hell Custom to stand firmly with the Active Cloak opened up. You can try this as well!

It has been a while since I did any crack stories with my Gunpla and this is in relation to my months old intention of doing an omake with the SD Sinanju. I wonder how it'll go this time since it is another "fishing episode" - featuring a "Frontal approach".

HG 1/144 Gundam AGE-1 Normal Review - Part 2

Okay, lets continue this review after a nice Christmas and an interesting beginning to my New Year, well, except that the flood recently caused a number of problems. ^^;

I actually waited until I have at least caught up to the recent Gundam AGE episodes (as I stopped at episode 4 before this) but I was caught with a sudden disappointment at how they are progressing the story. Blandness, over-explanation and improper use of tension made the story feel disappointing for me to watch. What happened to all the excitement from the earlier episodes? :/

Nonetheless, I'm still impressed with the HG and this review will illustrate that.

Section 1: Overview

The AGE-1 Normal looks nice standing there, well, except that the spoiler looks off since it isn't a Core Fighter like we initially thought. ^^;
Then again, it may well be since Flit's arc is still currently running...

There is more minor details placed onto this Gundam as the design can be said to be rather simplistic unlike what we have from Gundam 00 and Gundam Unicorn. I felt some parts look nice but some were just added on for the sake of more detail which, at times, made the model kit look awkward. Overall, it looks alright and sharp.

Section 2: Articulation & Gimmicks

Shoulder articulation.

Side articulation. Double jointed elbow is win. Rear skirt can actually move which is quite rare amongst standard release HGs.

With that said, the AGE-1N can do a pretty good high kick. As seen in episode 5, AGE-1N is quite agile.

Waist articulation.

Pretty much the same as the HG 0 Gundam.

Neck articulation.

You can switch the orientation of the arm-guard for shield use. I decided to leave them in a way to make it look slant from the front - making it less "square" looking from the front.

Section 3: Action!

One-hand beam rifle. Technically its called the "DODS Rifle".

They should do this for Flit's arc climax. Final shot!

I personally find AGE-1N holding the rifle with two hands looking totally awkward like this, especially since it isn't a BFG or anything.

Basically kneeling test and AGE-1N does it tremendously well.

Beam dagger action. Wished I had a Gafran to stab when I was doing these shots actually. >.>

My favorite part of any Gunpla review, beam sabers! Oddly enough, AGE-1N really has that Turn A feel here. Hm...

Interestingly enough, AGE-1N looks nice in the air with the DODS Rifle.

Section 4: Conclusion
Pros

Great articulation following the later HG 00 releases.
Great part-color separation. Stickers usage are minimal as well. Painting in details isn't really required unless you really want to.
Good attention to detail. For example those added lines and grooves gives the AGE-1 an added sense of complexity from its simple construction.
Full beam saber set, which is REALLY rare to see.
Great price @ 1200 Yen.

Cons

None*.

*I was initially worried about the ankle armor but nothing went wrong with it so...

This is one of the best model kits I have ever owned. It doesn't even have any cons to mention. Everything is done well for this model kit. Looks like Bandai have done their research properly from past projects. Now, I wonder how good the other model kits in this series will be? Will they continue AGE-1N's level of build quality?

That's all for now. I just hope I wasn't biased though since this model kit is really that good. If you already have one in hand, you may agree with me. The only thing people may have against it is the design of the Gundam. :/

Thought of relaxing today off after a whole day out yesterday to finish up my unfinish business but a sudden non-stop rain interupted it in mkre ways than one. In an unfortunate turn of events, there were a few deaths* and missing people at my old high school area. ._.

May they rest in peace*.

*Some reports say they are simply missing, some say they were dead and there are multiple stories going around - officially and unofficially.

Gao Gao MG Deathscythe Hell Custom Finished!

Took me a while to complete any Gunpla or even update this blog lately. Ever since I was brave enough to drive, I've been going out lots. That truly took a toll on my schedule as night outings can go past midnight. Well, AGE-1N image processing is done but will take some time before I can type it due to unforseen circumstances with my mouth. Dentist tomorrow. ._.;

New Year on the Horizon

Didn't expect myself to be so busy this week (to extend that, the whole year), actually thought I could relax and game/Gunpla at home. Unfortunately, duty calls. Lots of stuff are coming up around me and needs my attention, whether it be friends or family. I guess it is true that as you grow older, you have more responsibilities to attend to.

I still feel bad for not adhering to most of what I've planned for my blog this year, especially the omake I thought I would be doing. The idea is (or was now?) in my head but I did not execute them yet and more model kits enter the stack. Hm, I wonder if I can do something to atone myself on the day of New Year? Preview for my verdict of the HG Gundam AGE-1N;

Great articulation all around, if you have built or know of the HG 0 Gundam, that's how good it is.
Part separation is one of the best so far so painting isn't really required.

Will cover more aspects later but you know that this model kit gets a big sticker of approval from me already. (For those who want to buy this for whatever reason, it is a good model kit to get. It is great for those who are new to Gunpla especially. I see what you did there Bandai.) =)

Mario Kart 7

At the same time, as they are people to have fun with, I've been giving more attention to my 3DS gaming profile. Well, not that much. Recently I've obtained this game. Didn't really plan to get it actually but since it is a racing based game, which I like, I bought it. Wished there was a Christmas discount tacked on it then but at well, it is a rather fun game to play - especially with friends.

Cardfight!! Vanguard

Finally, ever since I came back from AFA 11 (Anime Festival Asia 2011), I've endorsed myself into the world of card games. To be honest, it is actually more fun that I initially thought. Although buying an English Trial Deck (basically a starter deck) wasn't a good investment (as others played using the Japanese cards), I still had fun with the Royal Paladin Trial Deck along with my 4 Blaster Blades in that deck thanks to some PR cards I got from AFA that time. ^^;

Maybe it doesn't look good but I upgraded my deck with Japanese cards in-between but luckily the circle here doesn't seem to mind as long as the cards are legit. Whether they are English or Japanese, they are still manufactured by Bushiroad. =)

At any rate, if you're game, I'm game too.

We had a 3DS gathering today at the top floor of OneJaya in front of Momotoys. We mostly played Pokemon and expanded our Pokedex 3D though. We did play two rounds of Download Play Mario Kart 7 as well (with mine coming in next week).

If you're living in Kuching and own a 3DS, do join us someday! If you're thinking of getting a 3DS, you may try out ours' (but be careful with them).

Was curious if I could do this on the Nintendo DS. Lo and behold, it works!

Just search for "Lameboy" and you're good to go as long as you have a flashcard like the R4 in hand as well as the ROMs of the Gameboy (Color) games you wanna play. Sadly GBA games can't be emulated without specific flashcards such as the DSTwo that's rare around these parts.

HG 1/144 Gundam AGE-1 Normal Review - Part 1

Time to go back to our regular dose of... Gunpla! I haven't been building Gunpla lately, not with how I take a good amount of (building fun) time I spend on each one. Last week, I decided to build this guy, right past midnight, until the sun rose again. Built the armaments in the evening after that. It was also brought over to Heng Kim Trading for a certain gathering. This review may be a little bias as I'm really loving this model kit. Or maybe that means that it gets a 100% approval on the get-go already. Nonetheless, on with the review!

Armaments: Dots(?) Rifle, Shield, Beam Saber/Dagger (2)

Story in Brief
This Gundam was created by the child genius/prodigy and sole survivor of the Asuno family, Flit Asuno. He wasn't meant to pilot the Gundam but a sudden attack by the UE (Unknown Enemy) at his current colony forced him to take action and become another "young teen Gundam pilot".

Section 1: Box

The box follows the recent HG 00 releases by which it has a white background instead of the usual dark background used. Simple, yet highlights the model kit nicely.

Section 2: Box Open!

Not many runners but it is actually quite detailed. The manual is quite small though. Then again, there isn't that much going on that needs explaining for this model kit.

Section 3: Runners

...and I totally forgot to take the individual runners... Ah well.
As stated, not many runners but is quite detailed enough and it has a full set of beam parts! O_O

Section 4: Building Process Section 4.1: Torso

I initially thought the "A" for the chest would be a transparent piece, as shown in the early promo shots at least. I guess Bandai decided to make it simpler, since it is small to handle, so a sticker is provided. I opt to paint it though.

Interestingly enough, you don't really need to do much further than panel lining for this model kit. I did a bit of extra by painting the chest "A" and the inner collar gray but it isn't all that necessary for this one it seems.

Section 4.2: Head

More parts than usual for the head but it provides all the color separation you'll need. However, you may need to paint in the green for the front slits near the "A" forehead sticker though - which I did using the toothpick trick and Sangokuden metallic green. I also sharpened the V-fin.

Section 4.3: Arms

Arms are very straightforward as you can see. The elbows are also double jointed to allow greater articulation as well! =D Do note you may paint the semi-circle part of the hands gray, which I missed to do actually.

Section 4.4: Legs

Same as the arms, very straightforward. The nubs on the red pieces are a bit annoying though. I also decided to just use the sticker for the knee guard as it works very well as is IMHO. The ankle guard seems to be a little too loose to me so I hope it won't fall off once I start posing it more for the next part later...

Section 4.5: Waist

No paint needed, ar! Unless you're the type who prefers to make the inner sides gray that is.

Oh the flexibility even at the waist section! Bandai, you really did well this time.

Section EX1: AGE-1 Normal IS a Gundam

As much as many criticized the design of AGE-1N, it does look and feel like a Gundam, particularly since it is heavily based on the RX78-2.

Section 4.6: Armaments

DOTS Rifle... Weird name but it can really piece those UE like Unicorn's hax rifle.

The rifle can turn around similar to the GN Sword II from 00 Gundam/Raiser which allows the use of the second handle to stabilize those heavy shots.

One of the best, detailed, HG shields around. Bandai, I am so happy. :'D

Beam parts. Way better than a single, "toothpick", no? Bandai, Y U DO THIS ONLY NAO? :<
Ah well, it is compatible with the other HGs too. Close enough. >D

That's all for now and I'll wrap it up in the 2nd part. Wonder if I can do any interesting scenes with the AGE-1N. Hm...

HG 1/144 Gundam AGE-1 Normal COMPLETE!

After a good while of not building anything, I went back in by building the Gundam AGE-1 Normal as my first build this semester break. I was really impressed with this one, it is easy and straightforward to build though shows some minor bumps in detail to make it not look so simple. More on this in the upcoming review post which is completely taken with the Samsung Galaxy SII @ 8MP.

After that long situation-endorsed hiatus, I finally have the time to myself again! At least, I hope so. Before delving back to Gunpla, especially with my stack of backlogs currently, I'm playing some of the recently released games.

This is the main game of focus right now. TBH, I never completed the games before this but the game here highlights what you need to know pretty well enough to let you understand what has been happening. That and I'm totally hooked to the game, side stuff and all. Pretty fun to play I have to say, especially in contrast with the first game of the series.

I recently got my 3DS but there aren't much games on it yet. Well, the first party games such as Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 has recently came out but, honestly, I'm not excited about them, not at this moment at least. At any rate, I really like playing this game even if I played the first one (although only one play-through). Mostly play it when outside though, as what I do for most of my handheld games. A good strategy-based game and it comes with the option to tone down the difficulty to "easy" this time. Good for those who wants a relaxing plot-filled game.

Random Note: I don't really turn on the 3D while playing on the 3DS.

Played this on the Xbox 360 at first but unfortunately for us console gamers, it loads very slowly, to the point that you can go to toilet in between loading screens if you didn't install the game onto the hard drive. You can observe that fact from my previous posting. The story this time is pretty okay-ish and the game-play is easier, I believe, plus more diverse than Oblivion. Nonetheless, for best effect, play on a decent computer than a console. If you bought it for the console, especially for the PS3... you'll feel a lot of pain after all those hours of fun-filled "Fus Ro Dah".

Still remembered my purchase earlier on? Well, I'll be continuing it. It is Disgaea after all! As usual, it has a funny cast of characters that interacts interestingly with each other. The system has changed a bit so there is a bit of adjusting required for me. Hm, I wonder how I'll far this time?

Haven't really gotten this game, asides from "getting" it on the Xbox 360 via the cheapskate means. I really want to utilize Phoenix Wright in this game, along with Zero. Oh yes~~~

There are still some other games I might be playing, especially those I have yet to complete such as Nier, P3P and the last part of KHR:BBS though that depends on my mood and time after this. >.>

I won't necessarily be gaming 24/7 as I also want to get my hands into some Gunpla after all that while, especially with the new Gundam AGE that gives some really flexible mobile suits unlike before. Plus I must have fun with the "East is burning red!" duo later on. =P

And yes, I'm still doing an omake with SD Sinanju, now with a larger cast than before... Hm... what kind of mischief will unfold this time? I'm still crafting that out and hold to do something interesting after all this while not doing anything funny. ^^;

I also have some obligations to do for the Anime club during the holidays. At some point I regretted adding more responsibilities to my work load but a promise is a promise plus I'm the one who initiated it after all. I have some time to do em' (though it came with some delay notifications from the intended completion time frame) so I'll do it slowly, especially when my creative mood comes into play - for a better outcome. Those who have passed me their desired artwork to be used, I'll do my best! =)
I'll pass you guys your custom member cards once the next semester starts, following the Foundation timetable, except for those in Degree.

Random Note: I'm doing some short posts on my trip to Singapore this year over at my secondary blog. Do check it out.

Let's have a bit of light into this blog. I've been noticing that blogs are dying out slowly, even mine, due to either real life or your attachment to your blog starts to disappear with time. Mine seems to go both ways and social networking plus my kick back to gaming life is influencing that.

Yep, recently bought the SD Kshatriya, finally. With that, I have all the BB Gundam Unicorn so far. However, this time it isn't built by me and I handed this to my sister to be a "first build" for her since she wanted to try building a Gunpla with some very minor help and advice from me. I chose this from the already small selection of Gunpla left at the shop that felt worth getting. I really liked that it came with a very cute SD Loto and it has elbow joints. =D

I really would like to burn the midnight away with Gunpla at this moment but I don't want to interfere too much into my mental strength for my final paper, so I'll have to be patient. ^^;

Also, yet unfortunate turn of events...

A crack on the hinge of my Nintendo DS Lite! D:

I know it is a common phenomenon but it still hurts that it happened to mine too, after 3 years of owning it. I've put some tape around it though I doubt it would help much. I guess it did get sad once I got the Nintendo 3DS last month. Then again, I still played with it plenty since DS games are blurry on the 3DS. Depending on your own perception, you may like or dislike that fact. I don't really like it though since it isn't a "good blurry" to me. :/

Well, lets see how I go about this later on, for now, I shall rely on you - tape!

Not wanting to rush myself and have enough time for work and play in-between, I'll extend the hiatus until 8th December 2011 the earliest when I would be free. Maybe I'll put up some quick posts in the secondary blog to highlight some of what I've did when I was at Singapore earlier this month from 10th-14th November 2011. It is unfortunate I could not meet up with my fellow bloggers again this year as my schedule was more packed than last time. Ah well, this recent trip made me realized I would like to take a nice one week holiday to go around Singapore. A nice place it is although pricey when it comes to daily consumables. ^^;

Simply Sedap @ Swinburne Soft Opening

Sudden post! This week was a rather "hangover" week. My mind was mostly hazy since I got partially sick (headache with mild fever) which made finalizing my assignments and doing my mid-term papers this week... hellish. I'm pretty much okay already but it seems my focus is still hazy. Could be a side-effect or the weather has a big impact on me. I'm not sure. I just hope all goes well with whatever I did for this week since I couldn't focus completely on them. ._. ...for the best.

At any rate, back to the lighter side of things. I'm slightly free again so I feel like doing a quick post on the newest addition to the Swinburne Sarawak Campus - Simply Sedap. Chillipeppers, which was located near the hostel of the campus, closed down early this year. Starting today, the area is being officially taken by Simply Sedap.

I went today for dinner with my friends just now and today is the restaurant's soft opening so I felt it was worth checking out at least. FYI, I have night class tonight and I'm typing this while listening to the lecture. A first I say. =P

As fellow Swinburners, if you have went to Chillipeppers at Swinburne in the past, the feel is similar but with 2 HDTVs in the premise - it has a better atmosphere than before. Ordering is roughly the same. You go to the cashier on the far right and order your meal as per the menu laid out on top. They have book menus provided also. After ordering, you move to the left then get your drink and pay up at the cashier on the far left. I wonder why I couldn't just pay at the counter on the far right instead?

The overall area feels comfortable and nice. I say it is an improvement over Chillipeppers in the past at the very least.

However, I did not like how they did the order number system. Since you're gonna leave it basically flat on the surface of the table, it can be easily missed by the waiters/waitresses.

Since this was my first time here, I decided to spend a bit more by ordering the pineapple fried rice special. I can pick either fried chicken or curry chicken. Unfortunately, the chicken were both unavailable just now. Or so it seemed. In the end, I paid RM4.50 for the normal pineapple fried rice instead of RM6.50. Overall the price was okay-okay but is a little bit on the pricier side as compared to the cafeteria right by the old block.

After I sat with my friends, we waited for our food. And that's when the problem started. My friends who ordered later than me have already received their orders. I had to ask 3 times before my order finally came to me! I waited for a total of 45 minutes before my food was finally available! "Son, I am disappoint." This problem was not limited to me only though, many people had to wait periods between 30minutes to almost and hour for their orders. WTF. That really leaves a bad impression to me even if this was their first day opening. Then again, I hope they can improve on their speed in the future as their food tasted...

...pretty good.

Yes, that's right, I somehow get the pineapple fried rice special in the end (although I only paid for the normal variation). =D The taste was not bad, however, the pineapple was not so obvious which made me a little disappointed (yet again). Mine was particularly VERY oily unlike my friend's. I believe they started to rush once someone inquire WTF is their order 3 times. =_=

Overall not bad but I really hope they can improve on their speed, period.

Assignment Implied Hiatus

Going on a hiatus until at least 18 November 2011 in order to do my assignments and other responsibilities. Kinda obvious from the lack of posts and unfinished reviews for a while (as well as things I wanted to do haven't been done like some omakes in mind with the BB Sinanju and such). I guess being president of SAMS (Swinburne Anime & Manga Society) really made me all the busier this year after all. I even got random minor projects going for the club.

SAMS (Swinburne Anime & Manga Society) Maid Cafe 2011

Sorry for the extremely late post up but lots of things came up, seriously. Other than just academic work, I had to manage the post event stuff (which isn't completely covered yet) and upcoming events. Ah, to be busy with so many responsibilities. ^^;

Right now I'm also busy with a sudden prospect which will be revealed later once we get through the technicalities. I can say this one will be something nice for the club. =)

The SAMS Maid Cafe - Versailles Maid Cafe was held on the 23rd September 2011. The date was supposed to be 9th-10th September 2011 but various stuff came up so we had to postpone and change the timing a bit. We had two shifts. One in the afternoon (11am-2pm) and one at night (5-7pm). The night time slot wasn't in the original plan so I'm very sorry for those who had trouble coming in as security was stricter at night.

The food provided were omelette rice, yakisoba, sandwiches and fries, swiss rolls, cupcakes, cakes and tarts. Some had limited availability though.

Technically everything wasn't as smooth as I hoped but we worked together through the kinks and manage to get everything running to the best we can for our first time. Some of the customers also supported us which I really appreciate you all! =D

The way we lined the flow was only 'perfected' during the night shift but I guess it wasn't easy to get everything 'right' from the get go. Basically the you, the customer, get greeted at the entrance then your order is taken. You'll be taken to your seat by an available maid and your order will be processed. Once it is done, it will be sent to you and depending on what you ordered, you may get an additional service such as drawing on the food. After you're done eating, you may go to the photo booth to take a photo with a maid of your choice and more - additional fees applicable.

Most of the food were home made. Nonetheless, all the cooks tried their best to make them. Although that still need work there (for some). Will definitely make a better tasting meal next time~ Ganbarimasu!

The photo booth was very popular, which I think became the highlight of the event. The overall setup was great and I really thank the photographers who were mostly graduated members for helping us out that day! Wished I could have provided a better printer though as it wasn't really up to snuff (although I'm patching it up as I type this).

Overall we had fun. It wasn't 'perfect' but for a first time doing this, it was a great learning experience. It also made me stronger one way or another. I also had the chance to do something I normally wouldn't be able to do under normal circumstances, which some of you can clearly see from the photos or from the event itself. We all learned something and we hope to present you all a better maid cafe experience in the coming year! So watch out everyone~

If you have any suggestions or want to apply as a maid (limited to Swinburne students) for the upcoming maid cafe, comment here or approach the committee nicely. We won't bite so I hope you won't try to chow us down either. :)

Alice Madness Returns Bookmarks for SAMS

TBH, they may not be of the most creative design (or 'logical') but I'm liking what I've done. Did it all tonight, just now, right after I came back home from my mid-term paper. Nonetheless, you may critique (with good reasoning of course) my works.

Note that none of the art were done by me - I found them at zerochan. The overall design was by me. FYI, I'm a simple person so I don't really put much background detail. However, if you have any suggestions there, shoot. :)

If you're wondering what I used, I just used ze good ol' Photoshop 7. :D

PS3 Disgaea 3 & 4 GET!

Got these in the mail today. I know there will be a remake for Disgaea 3 for the PS Vita but still thought of getting the game that made me decide to get the PS3 in the first place. I really wanted Disgaea 3 for ages. The one on the right is the Disgaea 4 Premium edition. Not really much in fact but the price wasn't far off from the standard release currently so I went with it since I had the chance. (And if anyone wants to retaliate again, Disgaea 4 is my 2nd PS3 game that cost me more than RM100, Disgaea 3 cost me less than that.)

The US premium edition only comes with a bonus of a guide book and fixed pose figure of Fuka.

The figure doesn't exactly shout "quality" to me but okay-ish.

Overall the premium edition feels alright but could be better. I'd like to get that Nendo Fuka if possible but sadly I couldn't grasp the chance when the Japanese release was up last time. Ah well, still enjoying it at any rate. =)

Crossbone X-1 Cloak

Since Blade.requested for it last time, here's the best I could do with the equipment I can use while at my apartment.

The background box is just a bit bigger than a standard A4 paper while the width of the cloak is only a bit longer than a standard A4 paper. The rest is up to your imagination bro. ^^; Uploaded full size for best effect.

Spark Gundam Rough Build Setup

Next up... Spark Gundam. Just a minor part moving here plus an idea of how the backpack and left armguard will be. Hmhm. (Actually put this up in FB for a while but decided to cross-post it here for some content over my blog. ^^;)

TBH, I need a 00 Qan[T] body if I were to try modding this guy out.

Roughly, this is how it will be but I can't really use the 00 Gundam's body even though it is possible. It adds more work than necessary so I'll be waiting for Gao Gao to release their 00 Qan[T]. Who knows, I might even make a dual-wing-binder 00 Qan[T] for fun along the way too. =P

The Spark Gundam design goes like this;

Part of the Exia family, thus is focuses on melee and speed as well.
Incorporates latest GN technology by utilizing a miniaturized Twin Drive in the chest location.
Backpack wings are inspired by V2 Gundam, which the Spark Gundam is overall based on asides from Astraea-Exia-00-Qan[T].
The left arm has a prototype armament - GN Beam Shield. It can be a beam shield or a beam vulcan. The vulcan can used to form an unexpected beam saber as well.

That's all for this random posting~ Hopefully I can make this build a reality within the near future although I think I can only do it sometime next year rather than this year. But, who knows? Heng Kim Trading, a local shop, has most of what I need to do it now...

Swinburne Club Recruitment Drive Semester 2 2011 (Simplified)

On 14th and 15th September (Wednesday and Thursday), Swinburne Sarawak Student Council (SSSC) held the club recruitment drive again. Overall not so many people came to the Auditorium, the usual room it is held at, for those two days unlike before. However, our club booth - Swinburne Anime & Manga Society (SAMS) - was livelier than usual even if we didn't get many new members this time around through this event.

On the first day, our display was simple and rather limited. Here is what I donated for the first day. Sorry that I haven't made the omake on them yet. It may be another "fishing" story.

On the second day, we had so much and extended the table a lot! There are more photos but they aren't with me as one of the committee was tasked for that.

For the second day especially, I did something either totally interesting or absolutely mad. I had fun with it and it added publicity for the club as well as made the overall area more interesting. Well, somewhat. Took quite a number of photos with random people because of that. >_>

That's all for this simple post. Night classes are easier to doze off in and sleep is always good to have. Maybe I'll edit this post with a bit more stuff after this when my friends' photos are up. :P

More Stuff To Do

Looks like I'll be busier than usual for the whole of this month asides from the Maid Cafe event on the 23rd September 2011. Those in Kuching, please do come although the second day (24th September 2011) is canceled and maybe brought foreward to Friday night (possibly at 5-8pm). More on that once I confirm this sudden needs of change.

On random news, I randomly obtained this when I went to KFC with my parents. Currently using it for my netbook pouch although a bit tight since mine has a jutting battery pack.

We had an interesting team building activity during the tutorial today. One of the groups made a sort of tower of life which looked like this at the top. Basically, each group that was randomly assigned by the lecturer must make a sturdy tower out of newspapers for today's tutorial.

I have night classes this semester due to one subject having a part-time lecturer. What do?
Unfortunately for the tutorial class tonight, the aircond was leaking like a waterfall before we turned it off. Why aren't you fixing this Swinburne? From the looks of the table and floor underneath it, it foes seem to be a long time problem already. :/

There is also going to be a club recruitment drive at the Swinburne Auditorium again this Wednesday and Thursday. Swinburne Anime & Manga Society is gonna take part in it with a booth. There might be a bonus showcase of cards on those days by our new member this year.

"Something" Came in the Mail Today

I can't show you a photo of it, not yet anyways. I was trilled this time when I suddenly got the package, by Pos Laju. Fast but yet never call when they arrive at the gate.

As for what it is, I'll hint it is clothing by the very least. This is just a filler post since I got too busy with the new item to set up the review post I was planning for today. Whoops.

Gao Gao (TT Hongli) HG 1/144 00 Seven Sword/G - Impression

With just this single image, a full review feels redundant now. Okay, I'll still do it regardless.

Based on this photo, the Gao Gao 007S/G has an incredible polycap strength - being able to hold the GN Buster Sword II without much effort asides from needing a stand to stablize the body. o.o
This is actually attributed to its hard and tight polycaps which do seem to be doing the job and more greatly, to my pleasure even. I couldn't manage this without support for the original Bandai release believe it or not. Very interesting, no?

Gao Gao (TT Hongli) HG 1/144 Arios Review

I didn’t really expect to make a review on this model kit since I initially lost a part (then it was luckily found) so it doesn’t have the proper photo-shoot for a full, usual review. However, someone did request me to do one and I decided to do one, at the benefit of further using my new phone’s camera though. Unlike the review on the BB Sinanju a few weeks back, this one is completely taken through my Samsung Galaxy S II‘s camera.

Please take note that I did not detail this model kit much due to the fact that I plan to do something to it later on although not within the near future. The most I did was paint the clear parts red and minor panel lining.

Note 1: I got this model kit as a leftover from the GG HG 1/144 Arios GNHW/M from a fellow blogger and friend - Souji Shinogane.
Note 2: It doesn’t have the display base because of that. So I’m using an action base also from TT Hongli/Gao Gao which works very well.
Note 3: You can refer to an older quick review on the Bandai version.
Note 4: Being very close to the window doesn’t fare well for the phone camera sensor. ^^;

TTGG 007S/G Complete (Ninja Build)

Just finished it an hour ago and right now I'm on the verge of going to sleep. Nonetheless, here it is!

The one thing that makes this one annoying to build was its really tight and stiff polycaps. However, that brings an interesting benefit that can only be felt after you complete it which I'll cover in its eventual review.

This Month's Haul (Early September 2011)

Decided to get a new, "shinier", gold and silver marker by Uni Paint. They are oil based so it won't come off easily. Bought a sanding file too which was relatively cheap. Thinking that it will be important once I start to do something big later on (once the "pieces" are in my hands).

Two 007SGs from Gao Gao for a future mod build but I'll build it as normal first like the others before it so stay tune for another bootleg review~ And yes, I do already own two original Bandai ones beforehand. I mad. The BB Wing Gundam EW should be obvious too. Darn, the box is smaller than I thought yet quite thick! :O

The TT Hongli action base prove to me it was durable enough (to hold the Hi-Nu Gundoom up) so I bought some more. Good for mass need of stands which I'll be using them for. I really do prefer my Gunpla to pose dynamically to give a more "its alive" feel. =)

Semester 2 starts next week and there should be another post soon on something I didn't think of reviewing beforehand.

3DS Gathering Today

There was a simple 3DS gathering today in front of Momotoys at the top floor of OneJaya. Those who own the previous generation DS were welcomed too. Unfortunately not many came so we mostly played some DS multiplayer games such as Mario Kart DS.

Next time we hope to make a more successful gathering where more people can join us and well, StreetPass with each other. At least the 3DS has dropped to RM6XX (USD170/15000Yen) now. :)

In the end only 2 3DS came to the gathering. I had a bit of fun with em' which sealed the deal for me to get one later this year as the price has dropped to my target price range. :D

Until the next post. Might take a while before I actually do that omake for Sinanju. ^^;

Cooking Upgrade for Next Month Event

SD/BB Sinanju Review - Part 2

This is a continuation from the first part here.

Getting slower and slower with the blog updates lately even though I still sit by my computer. You can thank a busier real life I'm having right now. ^^; Enough with the semantics, it's time for the next part of the SD/BB Sinanju review~

White backdrop => Canon IXUS 105
Black backdrop* => Samsung Galaxy S II
*Noise is more noticeable with a black backdrop.

Part 1: Before Clear Stickers

With enough effort, the SD Sinanju will look great even without the clear stickers. Of course, adding the decals will make it look better (subjectively).

Part 2: Sinanju

One of the most challenging, if not the most challenging, SD to be built if you decided to paint in the details like I did. I just used markers to detail this as stated explicitly in the first part of the review and I can say it is my best works so far, even if it isn't as neat or clean as the more "properly" done one. *brag* XP

Part 3: Articulation

Neck is pretty good. You can dislodge it at the ball joint a bit to give more "up" if you want but it might look very awkward later.

Note the shoulder and wing binder articulation. They are all connected via a PC ball joint.

Eye can move independently as well as the head can shift comfortably to the sides. However, the shoulders can hinder head movement some.

Waist can move to the sides a bit. Can also "jiggle" but not much.

Similar to the 00 series, turning pelvis connections! This gives more head room to the legs even though they are limited to ball joints.

Not much it can do with just ball joints. I also find that I end up popping the arms out most of the time when adjusting the pose. That's mostly attributed to a lot of body parts meeting in the upper area, especially the large shield.

Part 4: ~~CLIMAX!~~ Action!

Starting onwards, all photos are taken with the spectacular Samsung Galaxy S II. If you're looking for a great smartphone with a decent camera for backup, this is really worth it. A beast in performance until now at a rather reasonable price in Asia. Both Maxis and DiGi has it on contract too. :)

As for the following photos, I think I was too close to the light sources as I had a smaller overall area to play with. My bad. Thought it would be better but the smaller sensor is more particular about the lighting than on a standard camera. I should note that for future photo-shoots. ^^;

Beam rifle.

Beam saber. I used the bright lighting to make the beam saber "light up". :D

Beam saber, beam axe and grenade launcher. Didn't used the beam axes separately though. It looks cooler this way. :w

Part 5: ~~Final Form Ride! Si-Si-Sinanju!~~ Awkward Transformation

So... to start out, lay the kit down like so.

Putting a shot of the manual for better reference.

Split the body in half like so.

Reorder the parts as shown. Pretty much self-explanatory actually.

Then reattach the kit as shown. This is the Falcon Mode. Err...

As for the lower half...

Arrange by detaching and reattaching the parts as shown.

Then just "pile on". This is the Wyvern Mode. Thanks ZD for the help. :)

Sorta reminds me of the Bawoo's transformation in a way.

What is this I don't even
The Wyvern Mode makes me think of an ass-rifle for some odd reason... O.o

Part 6: Interesting Weapon Combinations

Self-explanatory as well I hope. This is the "Giant Spear" (Kyodaiyari) Mode.
And yes, that's an extra handle just for this mode. Good one Bandai.

I quite like this one. Musou ON! The only problem would be how the wrist joint (with a nonexistent grip) can't really support the weight.

"Large" (Oogata) Bow Gun Mode. The Sinanju can do to the Edo period now. :P

I connected the grenade launcher as well to make it look like it has a "double barrel" unlike the default configuration. Came out pretty nice, no? There isn't any problem holding this up as far as the shoulder joint is concerned. :D

Part 7: Conclusion

"FINAL WAVE!"

Pros

Amazing detail although you need to paint it to look like it is "supposed to be". Nonetheless, the abundance of stickers included helps.
Great playability with lots of armaments as well as additional modes (some of which are awkward).
Moveable mono-eye.
Comes with a translucent red display base.

Cons

Limited articulation. No elbow joint specifically.
Parts at the upper region like to intersect with each other, especially the shield.
Wrist joint could use a ball joint instead to give it more grip and versatility.

Overall, this is a great kit! You'll only need to spend more time with it if you really want it to shine but Bandai got your back and provided enough stickers for those who don't have the prowness to go further than OOB constructions.

It has great playability all around which is just limited to your imagination and if some of the bulkier parts start to hit each other too much when you pose it to the limits (like I did). Under normal circumstances, it should provide a good deal of fun.

If you have the SD Unicorn already, you should totally get this as well. If you like SDs and Gundam Unicorn in particular, you should get the whole line! The SD Kshatriya is next and it is also packing with goodies. :)

That's all for now. An omake is already thought up. I just need to take my time to watch episode 3 of the OVA properly since I'm quite free now (as I need it for reference). ^^;

Char-Bird

Did the photo-shoot today though the space is more limited (due to the orientation of the location) as I'm using my "new" table (which was FOC since it was almost thrown away) plus it being located closer to the window. The SGSII is a bit more sensitive to light than my camera but considering that I haven't charge my camera in a while... whoops.

At any rate, expect the second part of the review soon-ish. The omake, if I have enough time, will be in another post. I already have an idea for it at any rate. Gonna have to watch a certain OVA closely for some good references. :3

SD/BB Sinanju Review - Part 1

Squeezing in a bit of time on my blog for now even though I have many other things to complete. I guess you can say I'm feeling stressed out by the monochromatic amounts of assignments in front of my face and in need of more contrast back to my usual round of doings that is. :P

This kit is one of the harder kits to build (nicely) for every version there is of it. The larger MG should be easier to detail the gold trims at any rate and is the most detailed one overall. For the kits being reviewed this time, I can admit this is one of the harder challenges of marker detailing I've come across. Of course, the part separation is better than SDs of old but I digress.

At any rate, read on~

MS Explanation
MSN-06S Sinanju is a Mobile Suit built by Anaheim Electronics used by Neo Zeon by the pilot Full Frontal. Full Frontal, as far as the OVA has shown, looks and acts like Char Aznable... who is he really? He also fights the same way as Char inclusive of the trademark 3 times the speed and kicking Gundams.

Part 1: Box

One of larger SD boxes around. Same size as the BB Unicorn before it.

Part 2: Box Open!

Quite a lot of part for 1000 Yen IMO. A good thing actually. :)

Part 3: Runners

Part separation is quite alright but lots of paint is still needed to make this kit look great.

Abundance of stickers and clear stickers are given. If you're too lazy to paint the gold trims, you have a decent alternative here, just that it won't look as pretty.

Close-ups of parts that needs heavy detailing. Some would look just plain and red if you don't do anything to em' (like the thrusters and parts of the legs).

Part4: Building Process
I have to warn you one thing,if you are thinking of painting the kit, prepare yourself mentally for how many parts that needs to be painted. You can always use the abundance of stickers given if you do not want to spend time painting it (although that makes the kit less impressive).

Part4.1: Head

Note the clear yellow piece. It's supposed to be green as the Sinanju's eye is green. I was reluctant to use the foil sticker so I just left it as is. A yellow eye for my Sinanju now similar to how I left my BB Unicorn's eyes red.

Painted the vulcans on the side of the head with Gundam Marker Gray and the pipe under the cheeks with Zebra Paint Marker Silver.

You can turn the rectangular part, basically the neck, to shift the mono-eye. Yeah, kinda mess up the silver there but fortunately it was in the underside so I needn't strip it in the end. ^^;
I later panel lined the gaps in-between the pipes to give it a better contrast.

Part 4.2: Torso

Painted the gold trims using my almost finish Sangokuden Gundam Marker Gold. The paint came out bronze-ish so I'll need to get a new marker soon. Nonetheless, I think it looks good in "bronze".

Painted the "side-grills", back minor-thrusters and pipes as well.

Kinda bland here. I suggest to do something like this by ZD.

It has a bit of an old look going.

Part 4.3: Arms

Lots of painting here folks!

Used a big flat-tip permanent black marker for the black cuffs. Just messily put it around the cuffs and paint the gold trims slowly and carefully.

Painted the thrusters on the shoulder guards, gold trims on the shoulder armor and cuffs, elbow joints, pipes and top portion of the hands (with Sangokuden Gundam Marker Meta Red as my normal red marker was not as good).
To paint the elbow joints, you'll need to use the toothpick trick by putting the paint onto a metal plate and picking it up with a small-tip toothpick. Then you paint it like using a small fine brush.

Without an actual elbow joint... there isn't much movement in the arms, like most SDs at any rate.

Part 4.4: Legs

More painting, yep.

Painted the top part of the legs (hip-to-pelvis section/joint), ankle guards, ankle joints, front ventilation (slightly unnoticeable) and the side-thrusters. Paint used are self-explanatory by now.
The front ventilation, if you want to attempt can be quite easy to do. Just apply the black color first and just touch the elevated points using the gold marker gently. You won't need to clean it up if done properly.

Just like the arms, there is no moving ankle joint, like most SDs.

Part 4.5: Waist

Note: Painted the pipes earlier on since I had excess paint in the plate.

Painted the inner thrusters.

Painted the gold trims. The inner pelvis part is not connected yet due to the way the body is suggested to connect.

Part 4.6: Wing Binders & Fuel Tanks

Nice for it to have a bit of an inner-frame but it still needs a lot of paint.

Painted the thrusters inner-portion with silver and the outer portion with my Gundam Marker White (several layers and it doesn't look very nice in real life). Painted the connecting and thruster points of the fuel tanks.

Cleaned it up a bit more later on. :)
Random Note: Panel lining can help you make paint look less messy sometimes.

Part 4.7: Armaments

Painted the handle of the beam saber, shield and sensor on the beam rifle (plus the sensors with Sangokuden Gundam Marker Meta Green). The shield was very PITA to paint especially on the lower section whee the grooves aren't really noticeable. D:

Didn't paint the inner-side of the shield though, felt it was redundant. >.>
Note that you can place the beam axes in various positions.

Part 4.8: Display Stand

A nice red translucent display stand. You can configure it to pose the Sinanju in two ways, upwards or forwards.

Part 5: Preview

It appears.
Early Note: The shield rubs against the wing binders way too much.

Camera Test - Samsung Galaxy S II VS Canon IXUS 105 VS Samsung Champ

This is just a quick comparison I did between my available cameras (not counting my family members' phones of course).
My current main camera, Canon IXUS 105, has a bit of overexposure while my new phone, Samsung Galaxy S II, has a bit of underexposure. Both of them doesn't seem to produce very accurate colors and exposure but the SGSII feels sharper overall.

So, what do you think?

My Current Lockscreen and Wallpaper

Right now this is my lockscreen and wallpaper respectively for the Samsung Galaxy S II. Photo is taken by the Samsung Champ BTW; which is now my backup phone.

I'm also trying a free limited watermark app that looks to be doing its job. Luckily I normally resize my photos to 800px wide before uploading (which is the app's free limit).

This is just a random filler post nonethesless. Better get back to my assignments.

After all these months, I've finally obtained the phone. Luckily, I had much decisive support from my friends and support from my parents as well. I guess moving up into the world is an important thing after all.

I only got the phone a few hours ago but it feels like it is a long time friend of mine. I got used to it way too fast like now I'm going around posting stuff from it. Although I can update my blog from this awesome phone, it won't be usable for my larger postings. Hence, I believe I might do quick blog posts while going around in the future. :3

Red Comet* is Complete!

The Red Comet is here... with clear stickers!

This is yet another "no sticker" (except the clear sticker/decals) that I've done. It could've been better if my Sangouden gold marker wasn't at the end of its useful life already. (Clearer shots in the actual review later.) Overall I'm pleased with myself, there is some improvement within but mada mada dane.

I also updated the review buttons to reflect the recent reviews I've posted up - now with better quality than before. Heh, 3 years and running. Now I have so many Gunpla (although most of it are from Gundam 00). ^^;

Okay, now I seriously need to do my assignments. Oh look, Dragon Nest SEA Close Beta... @_@

I won't be saying much asides from what you can see and read in the album thus far. Maybe a proper review once I have more time to take some more shots (which is taken with my usual camera). The photos you see here in the album shows how much lighting can improve the photo output of a camera than having just the ceiling light or desk lamp overhead as the main source of light. Sunlight is still the best at any rate.

Other than that, the SD/BB Sinanju has zero progress over this week as I've been busy with university course work, helping my cousin enroll into the same university and just being plain sleepy lately. Darn heat is causing a greater decrease in productivity. :(

Also wasted an hour at McDonald's on the last day of dat double cheeseburger offer. :P

Lighting Quick Test via Samsung Champ @ 1.3MP

Using a small sensor makes thing more obvious than using the usual camera. Thus, lets see how this test goes~

I recently bought a big black/white cardboard from the bookstore the other day. One side is black one the other side is while. Actually it is a black hard cardboard but with the white on the other side, I thought of getting it to interchange white and black backdrops depending on the model being photographed. Normally white would be better to bring out the details (lower noise output) but black gives it a nicer contrasting backdrop (which however causes details to be washed out due to increase noise output for the camera as well as potential overexposure on lighter subjects). (I might not be so accurate with terms here, based on my reading memory and experience thus far.)

Note: The Samsung Champ's camera tends to be underexposed from my experience using it.

Final setup. This is an alternate photo-shoot area with no reachable sunlight. The yellow LED lamp isn't really mine though so I just borrowed it to see how this more "surrounded" lighting works out. I think it works pretty well.

I'll need to see if my understanding it correct and maybe I'll use this new photo-shoot setup for the next review.

SD/BB Sinanju WIP 2

Continuing with the not so fast progress, I just did the arms this afternoon. As usual, only used markers to detail and boy, there were lots of micro details to do if you really want it to look nice. Mine isn't entirely neatly done but for something small, I have a bit of improvement in doing such things now. ^^

My gold marker isn't giving out the nice gold color anymore and just gives me a dull bronze-like color instead which is pretty nice as well.

I might continue later tonight or not. :P

SD/BB Sinanju START!

Since I noticed that I have enough time to spare, I decided to build the BB 365 Sinanju yesterday. I haven't done much and there is still more, difficult, areas to build and detail.

Menacing, no?

Details in regards to the build in the actual review later but the blurry phone camera photo can tell you pretty much everything I did so far. My gold Gundam marker isn't doing so well any more, as evident above, but I'll just go on with it. Will buy a new one the next time I go to either Momotoys or Heng Kim Trading (HKT). (Momotoys sells in sets while HKT sells individually.)

I should totally get the HGUC version that I initially planned to get sometime later this year once the big budget plan goes through. >.>
